Portal on supermart prices launched
PUTRAJAYA: Consumers can now compare prices at hypermarkets by clicking on the SmartPengguna.my portal.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad said supermarkets and hypermarkets were encouraged to post their prices on the portal.
“Consumers can give feedback, should the prices displayed be different from the actual ones,” he told reporters after launching the portal yesterday.
He said the portal, developed by Zenito Global Sdn Bhd, would inculcate transparency and healthy competition among supermarkets and hypermarkets.
Zenito Global chief executive officer Adam Breimo said so far, five hypermarkets in the Klang Valley – Mydin, Tesco, Giant, Jusco and Carrefour – would be participating.
He said the portal would be expanded to include the hospitality industry, and small-and-medium enterprises within three to five months.

Smart supermarket shopping just a click away

PUTRAJAYA: During hard times, the smart thing for people to do before setting off for their grocery shopping would be to compare the prices of goods at different supermarkets or hypermarkets.
With the newly launched webportal, smartpengguna.my, they can now compare and be updated about the latest products and promotions from five participating supermarkets and hypermarkets -- all a click away.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad, who launched the portal yesterday, said this would be a platform for participating hypermarkets and supermarkets to practise healthy competition and help consumers spend wisely.
"The prices of grocery items could also be significantly stabilised with this new portal," he said.
Zenito Global Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Adam Breimo, who created the portal, said for the time being it would only be available in the Klang Valley.
He said it would take up to five months to extend it to other states.
"We encourage consumers to leave comments on our webpage and act as a watchdog to ensure the participating hypermarkets and supermarkets do not take advantage of them.
"The voice of the consumers would act as enforcement instead of depending on the ministry as hundreds of consumers with access to the site would be able to view these comments.
"I am sure the hypermarkets and supermarkets would try their very best to avoid bad publicity," said Breimo.
The portal offers information on more than 100 grocery items from Carrefour, Giant, Tesco, Jusco and Mydin and is updated daily at 11am.

Smartpengguna.my beri maklumat harga barang
PUTRAJAYA 13 Mac - Para pengguna negara ini kini boleh mendapatkan maklumat harga barang dari kesemua pasar raya besar di negara ini pada laman web www.smartpengguna.my.
Menteri Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Hal Ehwal Pengguna, Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad berkata, pelancaran laman web itu membolehkan pengguna membuat perbandingan harga antara pasar raya besar dengan mudah dan tepat.
''Laman web ini menjadi satu platform kepada pengguna termasuk peniaga bagi membentuk satu suasana yang baik untuk memberi faedah kepada kedua-dua pihak.
''Pengguna boleh berbelanja dengan bijak dan jimat sekali gus memberi maklumat kepada peniaga menerusi komen pengguna berhubung perkhidmatan mereka,'' katanya.
Beliau berkata demikian pada majlis pelancaran laman web itu yang dibangunkan oleh Syarikat Zenito Global Sdn. Bhd, di sini hari ini.
Shahrir berkata, laman web tersebut turut berperanan memberi kemudahan kepada kerajaan bagi mendedahkan maklumat terkini berhubung isu kepenggunaan.
''Maklumat-maklumat terkini yang memberi faedah kepada rakyat akan dikemas kini seperti maklumat penemuan bahan melamin di dalam produk susu dari China," katanya.
Menurut Shahrir, setakat ini, hanya lima buah pasar raya besar di sekitar Lembah Klang sahaja terlibat dalam menyiarkan maklumat terkini mereka dalam laman web tersebut iaitu Pasaraya Besar Carrefour, Jusco, Tesco, Mydin dan Giant.
''Laman web ini akan turut dikembangkan untuk barangan lain daripada pelbagai sektor di negara ini seperti sektor perhotelan dan industri kecil dan sederhana (IKS) di negeri-negeri lain dalam masa tiga hingga enam bulan lagi," katanya.

公眾上精明消費人網站投訴‧商家若不理將受對付
(布城)貿消部長拿督沙里爾說,到“Smartpengguna.my”網站投訴或舉報商家抬高物價的消費人,若投訴不受理,有關違例的商家將受到行動。
他說,只要消費人的投訴正確無誤,那麼,貿消部將根據消費人完善的投訴資料檢舉商家。
5家霸市物價上網
他週五(3月13日)在部門為 http://www.Smartpengguna.my 網站主持推介後,在新聞發佈會上說,前有5家霸市行動一致的把物品售價上傳至網站,供消費人作精明比較,這也促進商家之間的良性競爭。
“我吁請此站網開放供更多迷你市場上傳售價,以擴大物價競爭的範圍,讓消費人一目了然。”
他打趣的說,隨著5家霸市貼上物價,他們也不必再派出“間牒”互相監視售價。
他說,5家霸市貼上物價的做法,必須是沒有經過“密商”的,真實的向公眾反映物價,否則,商家的物價將淪為並非由市場供求力量產生的“人造售價”。
製作此網站的ZenitoGlobal首席執行員阿當柏來蒙說,這網站匯集巴生河流域的佳世客、特易購、巨人、Mydin及家樂福5家霸市貼上物售供公眾參考。
他說,上述以英、巫文操作的網站已運作了兩個月,在接下來的3至5個月,5霸市售價比較的範圍,將擴大至全馬各州主要城市。
